Last week I was in The Globe & Mail with a story about crashing a Newfoundland dessert party, but the story is really about food traditions from coast to coast, specifically regional and familial variations on holiday jello puddings and a whole lot of Dream Whip.

I should say “sorry” to my dad, who takes the brunt of my sarcasm in the article, due to his insistence on a family lime Jello creation. I think he’s forgiven me. Fortunately, he’s not an emotional eater and hasn’t drowned his pain in Dream Whip…
