Pop-Up Dinner Party on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014: Quebecois Specialties

Quebecois Specialties Pop-Up Dinner

Coming up this Friday I’m hosting a dinner party through the travel website, Bookalokal. It’ll be my third collaboration with the website that brings together visitors and locals with culinary experiences in a city. My first two events were cooking and canning classes, but this time guests get to sit back and enjoy while I do all the work. Here’s the info:

Description

This will be a night of Quebec bistro fare: crispy skinned duck legs, an organic Quebec cheese plate with raw, unpasteurized (aka more delicious) cow, goat and sheepsmilk cheeses, and end with the ultimate Quebec comfort food dessert: “poor man’s pudding”—a brown sugar and maple syrup pudding cake served à la mode.

On the Menu

Duck Confit served on arugula salad with toasted hazelnuts, grapes and sherry vinegar dressing

Cheese Plate

An organic Quebec cheese plate of raw, unpasteurized cow, goat and sheepsmilk cheeses, with dried Quebec cranberries and homemade preserves.

Dessert

Then Quebec Pouding Chomeur: brown sugar and maple syrup pudding cake served à la mode.

Drinks
We’ll open a bottle of red wine made with local Frontenac grapes and finish with a Quebec ice cider for dessert. You’re welcome to bring more wine on top if you wish.
Dinner starts at 6:30pm and it takes place in my kitchen in Point St-Charles. It costs $55 and you can pay online through the Bookalokal site. If you leave a private comment on this post with your email address and full name, tho
ugh, I can get you a discount for the meal when you sign up for the event.
The meal is 100% gluten-free.
See you on Friday the 12th!
