This morning I hesitated at my kitchen sink before washing an orange in running water. It took me a moment to remember that in Canada you can just turn on the pipe and rinse your fruit. You don’t need to boil water or waste expensive bottled water and constantly risk polluting your stomach with parasites and all kinds of uncomfortable things. Today I won’t go to the grocery store in search of 2L of commercially filtered city water (what most Limenos drink) or even more expensive actual mineral water.

So this morning I felt life get just a little easier and a few knots un-crinkle in my back as I bit into an overly sweet California orange that’s been waiting months to be eaten.

Ah, home.

Everything Else running water Canada, safe drinking water
