Cocktail Invasion 2019, May 20-31 in Montreal

Cocktail Invasion is back starting Monday, with as many zombies as the Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but more delicious.

I’ve been covering this festival since 2015 and I’m happy to see that’s it’s still growing. Montrealers download the cocktail passport for free from the Cocktail Invasion website and then go to one of 30 or so bars and get 20% off their cocktail creations for the festival (there’ll be more than 200 cocktail options).

Download your Cocktail Invasion passport and take it to any of the participating bars to get 20% off the festival drinks created especially for the event. Each bar will have a menu sort of like in this picture for you to see what they’ve made for the festival.

When is it?

The 6th annual festival takes place May 20-31 in Montreal and Quebec City.

Parties and Guest Bartenders

There’s also a big opening night party on Wednesday, May 22, as well as cocktail workshops for pros and amateurs, a brunch and a guest international bartender night on May 27 at Coldroom.

Create Your Cocktail Bar Itinerary

Where should you check out? My advice is to start with whatever participating bar is in your neighbourhood that you’ve never tried before.

Then branch out to some bestsellers, like 132 Bar Vintage in Ahuntsic, Japanese speakeasy Gokudo downtown. Or head for dinner somewhere different, like African restaurant Le Virunga. Each one has their cocktails on the Cocktail Invasion website, so you can choose drinks in advance that look great.

Have fun!

If you want some cocktail inspiration for home, check out my coverage from last year where I featured a bunch of cocktail recipes from participating chefs.
