From NY: Nettle Cheese and Ancho Chili Peppers

October 22, 2011 Leave a Comment

The Brooklyn Green Market happens three times a week and has a fair spread of producers. While generally not organic, there’s a kind of eco-certification for one of the apple producers, some exquisite (and expensive) raw milk cheeses (nettle! Where is that in the Quebec cheese repertoire?), pickles (sweet and sours, kosher dills, and chow chow), and a whole bunch of neatly labeled hot chili peppers. Habaneros, jalapenos, and cayennes, but also anchos, Hungarian wax, and a few others I haven’t seen. The climate is similar enough to Quebec that the majority of the produce is the same, but it’s always nice to get a new view on local produce.

More to come on Taiwanese mango ice served on a dinner plate and Pondicherry dosa.

Everything Else anch chili peppers, brooklyn green market, nettle cheese
