Baby it’s Cold Outside: The Best Soups, Stews and Slow Cooker Recipes

April 5, 2016 Leave a Comment

konjac-nupasta-soupThis should be illegal, this cold weather.

My nose thought it was done almost freezing off for the year. But it got a nasty surprise the other day when the cold snap came.

Now my nose hates me. And all it wants is soup. Fortunately, that’s something I can get into. Homemade chicken broth, rice, chicken, bok choy. Or red lentils, turmeric, tomatoes and garam masala. Or ground turkey with soy sauce, white pepper and celery.

Here’s a round-up of some cold-kicking recipes to get you through the worst of it:

1. Homemade lamb broth: Just add some cooked pasta or rice for true comfort.
2. Spicy lemongrass chicken soup with mushrooms
3.
Butternut squash soup with sautéed shiitake mushrooms
4. Womp Rat Stew (spiced lamb with spinach)
5. Ultimate Vegetarian Chili
6. Slow Cooker Pork (or Turkey) Vindaloo
